On January 12, 2025, Carinthia will vote on the future of wind power. A majority in favor of a legal ban on wind power would have a massive impact on the Carinthian economy and on tens of thousands of local jobs.
A balanced energy mix of hydro, solar and wind energy as well as biomass and hydrogen reduces Carinthia's dependence on expensive electricity imports from abroad and protects Carinthia's natural environment. A secure supply of renewable energy strengthens the Carinthian economy and secures jobs in the long term.
A legal ban on wind power would paralyze Carinthia as a place to live and do business for many years and jeopardize innovation and investment. There is a risk that other generation technologies will also be banned in addition to wind power.
The independent association “Forum Naturschutz und Wirtschaft Kärnten” has launched the initiative “Our energy for our Carinthia” to provide information about the consequences of a ban on wind power. You can find out more about this important topic at www.energiefuerkaernten.at.
